Disappearence of Dr Clairbairn

Professor Clairbairn had set off over two years before for a mysterious group of islands in the far south Atlantic. There was talk of a strange occurrences that could have great significance in the medical realm.
Clairbairn was guided by Capt. Balimoor into this savage world. When nothing was heard for over the next two years, an recovery expedition was executed.

The expediton was nearly a loss, save five survivors. One, of which was the sole man to emerge from the jungles to the waiting ship crew. He saw Professor Clairbairn, and Capt. Balimoor along with their captors. The description of the sight was thus:
"Clairbairn was vaguely recognisable. He'd been worked over somethin' fierce! Something was amiss with his right eye... Damaged and sewn shut. His left eye was wide open and staring far, as though that which was directly in front of 'im ought not be there a'tall!
He spoke none. Acting strange, in a way a dog succumbs to some infection within. Severe lethargy, if you will...

"Cap'n Balimoor wasn't much different in behaviour. Though haggard, he didn't look near as rough as the professor.

"As we stand there lookin' at them two in the jungle, tall dark people come out of the surrounding vegetation. They might as well step out of my nightmares! An older one of 'em appeared to have no eyes! Only dark holes there were. A great sharp bone in his nose, and wooly grey hair that sprouted like hairy worms from his scalp!
He carried a stick with ghastly little heads. hanging from it! I never seen such things! Like little dolls' heads o' demons with eyes, noses, and mouths sewn shut! 'E 'ad one hangin' 'round his neck too! Two others, a younger man and a woman, I believe, had the stare same as the professor 'n cap'n. Only these looks were mixed with gaze to make the blood run cold!

"Before anything could be done, a whole mess of the wild folk set upon the crew and began to tear 'em apart. Those of us could still think, ran like mad out of there! We were pursued and finished off - except for me....."

The image was drawn and confirmed as to the look of the last known sight of Dr. Clairbairn. No one has returned to the island since.....
